You can use this service to find out what type of legal entity a particular business is (eg private company, individual/sole trader, partnership, trust, etc).
Knowing your customers' legal entity type may help you to optimise outbound communications campaigns.
This service appends an indicator of the type of legal entity applying to a business.
You will require a business or trading name along with an address, postcode and State, with DPID if available. The address details are important as businesses in different Australian states can have very similar, if not the same, business and/ or trading name. The Legal Entity Type can be appended to your database or used for selecting businesses for specific marketing campaigns.
The price of appending Legal Entity Type to your database will depend on the volume of records you would like update or whether you would like to license the variable for internal use and analysis. Legal Entity Type can also be purchased as a filter when selecting a target market for specific marketing campaigns.
There are 49 classifications in total. Over half of all business entities are classified as Australian Private Company, Individual/Sole Trader or a Family Partnership, for example;
